In the summer in Spain, its time to slow down, stay in the shade, take a siesta and enjoy the summertime vibe and the beach. It´s important to drink lots of water and look after your skin. Also there are other tempting drinks to try at home and in your local bar!

Tinto Verano – Summer wine
Tinto Verano is available in most Spanish bars and restaurants. It may be stronger than you think as the bars and restaurants have their own recipes! It is a refreshing drink served in a tall glass or jug with a lot of ice. You can make your own at home and recipes can be varied according to your own tastes. The ingrediants are a bottle of Spanish red wine, 750 ml of soda water, 1 orange, sliced, 1 lemon, sliced, brandy or vermouth to taste

Agua de Valencia
Agua de Valencia is translated as water of Valencia but its not as innocent as you might think. Agua de Valencia is one of the traditional cocktails of Valencia. It was created in Valencia around the 1950s and remains popular today. The Agua de Valencia ingredients are cava, vodka, gin, sugar and
fresh orange juice, It is often served by the pitcher (or jarra).

Mojito
Mojito is a cocktail from Cuba but it has been enthusiastically adopted in Spain! If you have planted mint in your Spanish garden, you will know it grows like a weed. How lovely to use it in a Mojito cocktail, a refreshing cocktail drink ideal for summer! First make a mint simple syrup with a cup of sugar, a cup of water and a cup of mint leaves. Wash and chop mint leaves, removing stems. Combine chopped mint leaves, sugar and water in a medium sauce pan. Bring syrup to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Turn off heat and let syrup cool to room temperature.
Strain syrup and store in airtight container in refrigerator.

Mojito receipe. Take a handful of fresh mint leaves, add a measure of the syrup as above, add a measure of white rum, the juice of one lime, strained and sparkling water, serve over ice with a sprig of mint and a slice of lime.
